Powerful Bible Promises

The Promise regarding promises- Isaiah 55:10, 11
"For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

Rain, some of us don't like it, but God uses this natural phenomenon to illustrate His word! God says that as the rain falls, and DOES NOT RETURN (for example, rain does not stop half way in the air, and then go back up, IT WILL FALL), and waters the ground and causes growth on the earth... SO SHALL GOD'S WORD BE! God's Word will not, once He has spoken it, return to Him, like the rain, IT HAS TO HIT! So this is the promises regarding all promises... Once we claim it in faith, God's Word will accomplish that which it said!

A Promise for Wisdom- James 1:5, 6
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."

Wisdom is something we all want, it is also something we all lack! (Check out Job 28:28 and Proverbs 9:10 for what TRUE wisdom is!) God understands that we lack this, so He gives us this simple promise. If we lack wisdom, go to God and ask Him for it because He gives to all men liberally (which means bountifully, freely, openly, sincerely) and He does not upbraid (which means to find fault with something/one), and when we ask of wisdom from God, He WILL give it to us.

So claim this promise, and gain the wisdom God is so willing to give, but, ask in faith, believing that He will give it!

A Promise for Victory- James 4:6-7
This is what the Bible tells us about Satan in 1 Peter 5:8: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour..."

The Devil is out to get us, and will tempt us with all types of lies and foolishness to devour us! Here is the promise:
"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

The Bible tells us that we are saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8), and God gives this grace to the humble, so we are to submit ourselves to God, and when the Devil comes, we rest in God's strength, and the Devil will flee, not because of our power, but because of the God who we have submitted to!

A Promise for Strength- Psalm 27:1
"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

No explanation needed... The LORD is our strength if we claim this promise!

A promise of assurance in Jesus- John 6:37
"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

We never like been rejected... Especially when we put our whole hearts on the line... But Jesus promises when we come to Him with the whole heart, He will in no way reject us!

A promise of answered prayers- 1 John 5:14, 15
"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."

In this promise, the Bible gives us the assurance that if we ask ANYTHING according to God's will, HE HEARS US. The question is, how do we know His will? Here are a couple of scriptures God has taught me about how to know God's will, and what God's will is.

Firstly, Ephesians 1:9 says:
"Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself..."

Here we see that God has made known unto us the mystery of His will. Then in Ephesians 3:3-6 it says:
"How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel..."

So we see here that the mystery was made known by revelation to Paul, and we also see that the mystery was in other ages not made known to the sons of men as it was now being revealed in Paul's times to the holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.

Then Romans 16:25, 26 it says:
"Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith..."

Lets recap these texts. First, we saw that Paul uses the phrase "the mystery of his will...", but the good news is that God has made known to us this mystery of His will! Then in Ephesians 3:3-6, we see that God made known His mystery through revelation to Paul (a revelation being something that God showed someone Himself, sometimes through an angel- Galatians 1:12, Revelation 1:1-2) and that in other ages, this mystery was not made known to the sons of men as it was now revealed to the holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. Then in Romans 16:25, 26 we see that this mystery was kept secret since the world began, but is now made manifest (just like Ephesians 3), and this mystery is made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, by THE SCRIPTURES OF THE PROPHETS.

In other words, we know God's will for us by HIS WORD! God has given us everything to know His will already, we just have to prayerfully look for it, and He WILL come through! So, going back 1 John 5:14, 15, if we ask anything according to His will, which we now see is revealed in His Word, we can be assured He will hear us, and if He hears us, WE KNOW that we HAVE the petitions that we desired of Him! So to be assured that God will hear and answer your prayers, ask for things that God has said He wants to give you in His word (that is what claiming the promises is about!) And DO NOT let go even if it seems like the answer has not come through! HE WILL ANSWER!

God's promise never to fail- Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."

Man will always fail. God never fails. PROMISED!
